Invisalign Reminders with Skelton Orthodontics

Invisalign® Reminders

Making sure that you take good care of your Invisalign® trays is really important. So is making sure that you follow the instructions that Dr. Skelton gives you about wearing your aligners. Doing these two things are the best way to make sure you get the most beautiful smile possible in the least amount of time. It’s not difficult to do everything that you’re supposed to, but a few reminders never hurt! Check out our tips.

How to Properly Put in (or seat) Your Aligners

  • Never bite your aligners into to place. Biting on the trays could cause damage. Instead, place the aligners firmly in your mouth with your fingers.
  • After the aligners are in your mouth, bite down on the chewie that we’ve given you. Move it from one side of your mouth to the other and apply gentle pressure to each tooth.
  • Be sure to reseat aligners each time after you’ve removed them. Do this also at bedtime so that they work while you’re asleep.
  • Contact us as soon as possible if for some reason your aligner won’t seat, doesn’t fit, or you can’t wear it.

Taking Care of Your Aligners

  • Brush your aligners once a day with water and dish liquid. This helps keep them clean and free from odor.
  • Use a soft bristled toothbrush to clean your aligners.
  • Always remove trays before eating.
  • Brush and floss after eating to keep food particles from getting in your aligners.

Reminders About Wearing Your Aligners

  • Only take your aligners out to eat. Wearing them ALL of the time is the best way to get good results.
  • Aim to wear your aligners for 20-22 hours a day.
  • Maintain good oral hygiene and have regular checkups with your dentist.
  • Don’t miss your orthodontist appointments.

Get the Results You Want

If you follow all of the tips we’ve mentioned above, you should achieve a beautiful smile that will last a lifetime. Failing to properly care for your aligners or wear them as instructed can sometimes increase your overall treatment time. And sometimes that can lead to additional costs. If you have any questions about your Invisalign, our team is more than happy to help! Give us a call any time. Whether you’re a new patient or just need a refresher, we’re here for you!

2020 Platinum Invisalign® Providers

Skelton Orthodontics is excited to offer Invisalign® clear aligners to Fort Payne and is proud to be Platinum Invisalign® Providers in 2020. Invisalign® is a great option for patients who want a more discreet form of straightening their teeth.

What is Invisalign®?

Unlike traditional metal braces, Invisalign® is a form of orthodontic treatment that consists of clear plastic aligners. The aligners are removable and are custom made. Patients with this treatment plan will move through a series of aligners that shift their teeth over time. You wear each aligner one to two weeks or as instructed by Dr. Skelton.

As Invisalign® Providers, our team will scan your teeth using a 3D scanning machine. Dr. Skelton will then create a unique treatment plan for each patient and send the plan to Invisalign to make the aligners. Invisalign then sends them back to us to give to you! We will have you in for checkups every few weeks to check progress and answer any questions.

This orthodontic treatment is perfect for adults! The clear aligners are difficult to see and do not affect everyday life quite as much as traditional metal braces. Not everyone is a candidate for Invisalign clear aligners, but we can review your treatment options with you after your initial exam.

Platinum Invisalign® Providers

So far this year, we are platinum level Invisalign providers. The Invisalign® level represents the number of Invisalign® aligner treatments prescribed by Dr. Aimee Skelton. There are various tiers and we can change levels over time. You can trust Dr. Skelton and our team with your Invisalign treatment due to our experience and training.

Skelton Orthodontics is proud to offer this form of orthodontic treatment to our adult and teen patients. We offer complimentary Invisalign scans to all new patients to see if you are a candidate. Call today to schedule!

invisalign gold

Invisalign® Gold Provider 2019

What does Invisalign® Gold mean?

Dr. Aimee Skelton is excited to be an Invisalign® Gold Provider for 2019! The level given to your Invisalign® status is determined from the orthodontist's overall experience and the relative number of patients they have treated with Invisalign®. The levels range from bronze to VIP.

What is Invisalign®?

Invisalign® is a company that makes a series of clear aligners to straighten your teeth. If you are a candidate for this form of treatment, Dr. Aimee Skelton will create a unique treatment plan for your aligners using 3D computer imaging technology. Invisalign® will then create the aligners based on Dr. Skelton's treatment plan. You wear each set of aligners for approximately two weeks before switching them out for the next set until your teeth have shifted into the correct positions.

Many people prefer this more subtle form of treatment over metal brackets and wires. Invisalign® aligners can be removed to eat, drink and brush your teeth, but should be worn at all other times to stay on track with your plan.

Are you a candidate for Invisalign®?

We also offer Invisalign Teen® to our patients so age is not a factor! However, there are certain cases where Invisalign® is not a treatment option so the best way to tell if you are a candidate is in a complimentary exam here at our office.

Call today or request an appointment online to schedule a complimentary exam with Invisalign® Gold Provider, Dr. Aimee Skelton to see if you are a candidate. Our team would love to cover the details with you in person!

Invisalign: How does it work?

Are you curious about Invisalign®? At Skelton Orthodontics, we proudly offer these invisible aligners that don’t use brackets or wires. If you’re looking for a more subtle treatment option, Invisalign may be right for you.

How does it work?

At your appointment, we’ll make a set of aligners customized to your teeth using 3D computer imaging technology. You will wear your aligners for approximately two weeks before switching them out for the next set.

During your day, feel free to remove the aligners when you eat and as you brush and floss your teeth.  As you replace each set, your teeth will slightly move each day until they reach the final position we prescribe.

Throughout your treatment, you’ll visit our office roughly every six weeks to ensure that treatment is progressing. Most people wear their aligners for six to 18 months, but treatment time varies depending on the individual.

Parents, did you know that children should see a dentist by their first birthday and then every six months? The American Association of Orthodontists also recommends that kids see an orthodontic specialist like Dr. Skelton at age 7 to have their jaw growth checked.

Oral health is a reflection of a child's overall health and the Skelton Orthodontics team knows how good it feels to see your kids smile with confidence. Call us today to set up a free orthodontic evaluation!
